Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the deadliest infectious diseases in the world, and Africa accounts for a large portion of the global tuberculosis burden with a significant number of new cases and deaths occurring in the region. According to the World Health Organization, nearly 2.5 million people fell ill with TB in the African region in 2022, with an estimated 424,000 people dying from the disease. Despite significant medical advancements, TB continues to thrive in communities with limited healthcare access, delayed diagnosis, and social stigma.  In this article, St. George’s University (SGU) School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies highlights the global burden of TB and the critical role of preventive measures in combating the disease. The Merck Foundation Cancer Access Program provides One, two- and three-years fellowship, Post Graduate Diploma and Master Degree of oncology for doctors from Africa. Merck Foundation marks World Cancer Day with African First Ladies by providing 194 scholarships of Oncology Training to African doctors from 32 countries. Merck Foundation together with Africa First Ladies and Ministries of Health has been building cancer care capacity and increasing the limited number of Oncologists in their countries by providing close to 200 Scholarships of One-, two- and three-years fellowship, diploma and Master Degree of oncology to African doctors from 32 Countries. Le Programme d'Accès aux Soins du Cancer de la Fondation Merck propose des bourses d'un, deux ou trois ans, des diplômes post-universitaires et des masters en oncologie pour les médecins africains. La Fondation Merck marque la Journée Mondiale contre le Cancer avec les Premières Dames d'Afrique en offrant 194 bourses de formation en oncologie à des médecins africains de 32 pays.
