Financing Sustainable Urban Development as a vehicle for productive growth, driver of Green and Climate-smart Recovery

The late November gathering, opened by UN-Habitat`s Chief of the Office for European Union Paulius Kulikauskas, built on the insights from the EU-funded initiative “Financing Sustainable Urban Development”. Local and regional authorities from the European Union and its partner countries from Africa, Asia, and Latin America recently attended a workshop –organised in part by UN-Habitat – in which the participants discussed challenges to implementing New Urban Agendas in economically sustainable environments. President Ramaphosa to attend SADC Extraordinary Summits in Malawi

The SADC Troika Summit will review progress of the SADC Mission in Mozambique (SAMIM), which was deployed by the SADC to support Mozambique to combat terrorism and acts of violent extremism. President Cyril Ramaphosa will, in his capacity as President of the Republic of South Africa and Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, participate in two Summits of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in Malawi on Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 and 12 January 2022. Omamo thanked China for its long-term support and assistance to Kenya's economic and social development. On January 6, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs Raychelle Awuor Omamo in Mombasa. Omamo showed pictures of ancient Chinese coins unearthed in Kenya, saying that the friendship between Kenya and China boasts a long history. The exchanges between the two countries can be traced back to more than 600 years ago when the great Chinese navigator Zheng He led a fleet to visit Mombasa.
