African Development Bank Appoints Abdourahmane Diaw as Country Manager for Egypt

Diaw has provided strategic and technical leadership to the North Africa region. The African Development Bank ( www.AfDB.org ) has appointed Abdourahmane Diaw as Country Manager for its Egypt Country Office, effective 1st November 2022. Diaw, a Senegalese national, brings more than 28 years of experience in the implementation of development programs and projects. These range from identification to evaluation, supervision and monitoring of programmes, to projects, monitoring performance of national and regional portfolio and engagement in high-level dialogue to promote the regional integration agenda. Immediately prior to his appointment, Diaw was Officer in Charge of Egypt Country Office and served as Regional Manager, Portfolio and Implementation Support Division for the Northern Africa region. International Monetary Fund (IMF) Reaches Staff-Level Agreement with Burkina Faso on Rapid Credit Facility through the Food Shock Window

IMF to discuss the economic outlook, macroeconomic policy and possible responses to the ongoing food crisis through the provision. IMF staff and the Burkinabé authorities have reached a staff-level agreement for about US$ 80 million (50 percent of Burkina Faso’s IMF quota) in emergency financing through the IMF’s Food Shock Window of the Rapid Credit Facility to support measures to provide urgent assistance to households in acute food insecurity conditions; the post-COVID economic recovery was disrupted by deteriorating security conditions, political uncertainty, and rising foodstuff prices as a result of the war in Ukraine, worsening the food crisis and weighing on the budget. Kenya: World Bank to Support Hustler Fund

The promise was made during a consultative meeting between President William Ruto and World Bank Regional Vice President for Eastern and Southern Africa. The World Bank has pledged to support the Hustler Fund to lift Kenya’s most vulnerable group. The promise was made during a consultative meeting between President William Ruto and World Bank Regional Vice President for Eastern and Southern Africa, Victoria Kwakwa at State House Nairobi. Ms Kwakwa said the bank will offer the Hustler Fund technical and financial support. “The bank associates strongly with programs and initiative that empower the poor and most vulnerable. Mozambique, South Africa and Eswaitini receive third regional grant to fight Malaria

This is Sherwin Charles, Co founder and Director of Goodbye Malaria The governments of Mozambique, South Africa and Eswatini, in partnership with The Global Fund, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Goodbye Malaria, today celebrated the launch of the third MOSASWA regional grant following the successful completion of two previous grants. MOSASWA is a trilateral agreement between the governments of Mozambique, South Africa and Eswatini, with the aim to work collaboratively across borders to accelerate malaria elimination in the South East African region.  The new grant, totaling US$24 million, runs from 1 January 2023 – 31 December 2025. During this period, a primary focus will be assisting South Africa and Eswatini to move closer to malaria elimination. While southern Mozambique will see districts begin to enter sub-national malaria elimination with a continued decline in both morbidity and cases, in all three provinces of operation, namely Gaza, Inhambane and Maputo.    Since
