Formation d’une 1ère Promotion de Formateurs Africains sur l’Action Climatique

Du 1er au 10 mars 2023, Cités et Gouvernements Locaux Unis d’Afrique (CGLU Afrique) ( www.UCLGA.org ), à travers son Académie Africaine des Collectivités Territoriales (ALGA), en Partenariat avec l’Agence de la Transition Ecologique de France (ADEME), et avec l’appui de l’Institut Supérieur de l’Information et de la Communication (ISIC), ont organisé la 2ème Session de Formation de Formateurs sur l’Action Climatique : Transition Ecologique, Plan Climat et Stratégie d’Adaptation au Changement Climatique. 21 participant(e)s (dont 16 Formateurs certifiés et 5 Observateurs) issus de sept pays d’Afrique (Bénin, Cameroun, Centrafrique, Côte d’ivoire, Djibouti, Mali, Maroc et Togo),

International Rescue Committee (IRC): 43,000 feared dead as drought continues to ravage Somalia

The country is the second most vulnerable country to the effects of the climate crisis, according to the ND-Gain Index. The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is deeply concerned by today’s report by the Somalia Government’s Minister of Health that indicates an estimated 43,000 excess deaths may have occurred in 2022 in Somalia due to the ongoing drought. It is feared that half of these deaths may have occurred among children under the age of 5. The report estimates that from January to June 2023, 135 people could succumb to the drought each day if humanitarian response is not significantly increased. Somalia is in the midst of the lengthiest and most severe drought in its history.
