The President of the Republic Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo received in audience Thursday March 19, 2020, the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Choukri about the great Renaissance dam

According to the communication service of the Presidency, the latter carried a facilitation message from the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi meeting was in order to sweep away the dispute between Egypt and Ethiopia over the great Renaissance dam.

Note that after the failure of the last round of negotiations, conducted in Washington DC between the delegations of Egypt and Ethiopia, under the aegis of the United States and the World Bank, Cairo has just decided to launch a major diplomatic offensive against European, Arab and African countries, to explain its position on the dispute that opposes it in Addis Ababa over the filling of the reservoir of the Great Dam of the Ethiopian Renaissance (GERD).

The Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry has embarked on Tuesday, March 17, an African journey that will take him to several African countries including South Africa, Tanzania, Sudan, Burundi, Niger and Rwanda.

It should be noted that the Great Renaissance Dam (GERD) is a dam under construction since 2012 in Ethiopia on the Blue Nile with an installed capacity of 6000 MW. It should be delivered in 2022. Egypt fears that its construction will reduce the flow of the Nile river.
