The launch of the Covid-19 prevention project in 312 urban and rural communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo

The European
Union through the EU Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo Jean-Marc
Châtaigner, the CENCO represented by Cardinal Ambongo as well as the
representative of the Church of Christ in Congo Pastor Bakundoa have launched a
prevention project against Covid- 19 in the DRC through communication for
behavior change during and after the pandemic.
This Covid-19
prevention project in 312 urban and rural communities in the DRC will benefit
from the EU funding of 2 million euros to raise awareness and inform the
public.
CENCO and ECC
will associate other religious denominations for the implementation of these
activities which will consist of:
Firstly, Raising awareness of compliance with the barrier measures decreed by the Congolese authorities as well as by the World Health Organization;
Secondly, Keeping the good habits acquired after this pandemic;
Thirdly, Building individual and collective responsibility in efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

According to
Jean-Marc Châtaigner, it is necessary to respect barrier gestures, wear masks,
wash your hands, fight against rumors and false information as well as observe
social distancing.
The DRC
currently has 1,945 confirmed cases including 1,944 confirmed and 1 probable
case, 312 cured and 63 deaths, of which 62 confirmed and 1 probable case.
