In the DRC, Central Copper Resources is working to develop its Mbamba Kilenda copper project. It has launched a pre-feasibility study which is expected to be completed by October 2020.

The operation could start with annual production of more than 30,000 tonnes of concentrate. The mining company Central Copper Resources wants to accelerate the development of its Mbamba Kilenda copper project, 70 km from Kinshasa, the capital of the DRC. To this end, it has started a pre-feasibility study (PFS) which should be completed by next October.

If previous drilling has already identified prospects rich in particular in copper, silver and zinc, the new work will provide, according to the details relayed by Mining Weekly, a first estimate of the resources. The study will also be used to improve the results of a previous exploratory study, which we learned, on a five-phase operation.

Once the PFS is completed, the company will seek the necessary funds for the feasibility study and the launch of phase 1 of the project, which will focus on experimental mining. Current estimates suggest that the mine will produce between 28,000 and 32,000 tonnes of copper concentrate annually.
