DRC President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tsholombo with Carlos Robles FRAGA, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Spain

The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo received, this Thursday, October 29, 2020 at the Palais de la Nation, the credentials of four new extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors as well as the special representative of the African Union accredited to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

They are Oliver SCHNAKENBERG of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mrs. Calliope Penny DOUTI, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic, Carlos Robles FRAGA, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Spain, were received by the DRC Head of State.

Oppewal Jolke FOLKERT, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

Oppewal Jolke FOLKERT, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and NDIAYE Michelle Hélène NATOU Special Representative of the African Union.

             DRC President Félix -Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo with Dr. Oliver Schnakenberg , Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Democratic Republic of the Congo


Dr. Oliver Schnakenberg has been Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Democratic Republic of the Congo since August 2020. Prior to being appointed to this post, he held various posts abroad in recent years, primarily in the Middle East, including Deputy Head of Mission in Tehran and Baghdad and Consul General in Erbil. Ambassador Schnakenberg has also held posts in New York, Hanoi, Kiev and Chennai. 

At the Federal Foreign Office, he was recently Head of the Migration and Refugees Division. Ambassador Schnakenberg holds a doctorate in law and joined the foreign affairs service in 1991. He is divorced and the father of three children.

It should be noted that the letter of credence is an official document that a Head of State signs and hands over to a newly appointed Ambassador so that the latter can deliver it to the Head of State of the host country.
