DRC President, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, invited to the G20 Summit in Italy

Félix Tshisekedi is invited to the next G20 Summit to be held in Italy during the last quarter of 2021. 

The invitation was officially handed to him on Tuesday 22 December 2020, as President of the African Union, by Mr. Luca Attanasio, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy in the DRC on behalf of Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte. 

The next G20 Summit bringing together the 20 richest countries in the world will focus on three main themes: Planet, Population and Prosperity. It will be an opportunity for Félix Tshisekedi Tshilombo to defend the cause of the African continent before the leaders of the most developed countries. 

This face-to-face meeting of the leaders of the 20 richest countries in the world will focus, among other things, on the revival of the post-COVID-19 global economy. Scheduled for October 2021, the next G20 summit will give the DRC Head of State Felix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo the opportunity to defend the cause of the African continent before the leaders of the most developed countries.

The Italian diplomat stationed in Kinshasa said that his country, which has just assumed the presidency of the G20, intends to organize the next summit in the last quarter of 2020 in order to pass the torch to another G20 country. 

Conceived around three "P", namely (People, Planet and Prosperity), the G20 summit is a meeting of great reflections and decisions on the world economy. It is in this precise context that we must expect a lot from the collaboration between the G20, the African Union and the DRC, underlined the Italian ambassador.

It should be remembered that the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo will be invested President of the African Union in February 2021 during an extraordinary summit in Addis Ababa(Ethiopia). The European Union, through its ambassador in the DRC as well as several Heads of State have promised to give him all their support so that he succeeds in his mandate. 

The goal of the next G20 summit is to try to break the world out of the blockage that the world's economies have suffered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim will be to promote small and medium-sized enterprises for economic recovery in a post-covid world, to take advantage of the green revolution, the digital revolution and everything related to environmental protection.
