The President of Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo received, this Sunday at the Palais de la Nation in Kinshasa, his Turkish counterpart, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, currently on an official visit to the DRC at the head of a strong delegation.

The two Heads of State had a face-to-face meeting followed by a working session extended to their respective delegations including ministers and business leaders.

Turkey and the DRC have signed several agreements contained in the fields of defense and security, infrastructure and transport, as well as agreements on non-double taxation and the promotion of investments.

Turkey and the DRC have signed several bilateral agreements in the areas of defense and security, infrastructure and transport, as well as agreements on non-double taxation and the promotion of investments.

The Turkish President also underlined the strengthening of economic and commercial relations between his country and the DR Congo:

“We nearly doubled our bilateral trade volume, which was $36.5 million in 2018 before the pandemic. We are definitely moving towards our business goal of $250 million. I believe we will achieve this goal as soon as possible. With Mr. President, we agreed to make better use of already existing mechanisms such as the Joint Economic Commission and the Business Council with the aim of raising our trade cooperation to the desired level. »

A total of 7 agreements have been signed between the two countries, including:

1. Military Framework Agreement;

2. Protocol relating to financial aid;

3. Defense Industry Cooperation Agreement;

4. Memorandum of Understanding on the construction of the Kinshasa Finance Center;

5. Memorandum of Understanding concerning infrastructure and river transport on the Congo River and its tributaries;

6. Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of 1083 kilometers of highway;

7. Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of the railway line.

This Sunday evening as a prelude to the gala dinner offered by DRC President to his Turkish counterpart and his delegation, Recep Tayyip Erdogan presented the Head of State with a batch of 100,000 doses of anti-Covid 19 vaccines.
