The President of the Republic Felix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, met this Wednesday, October 23 with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin


During this exchange, the Congolese head of state was accompanied by the Minister of Health, Dr. Eteni Longondo and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marie-Thérèse Ntumba.

It was on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa summit which was held in the city of Sochi (Russia) where he takes part in the Russia-Africa summit which opened this Tuesday, October 22 and hears until Thursday, October 24, on the following themes: "Nuclear Technologies for Africa's Development" and "African Minerals for the People of Africa". Officially, nothing has yet filtered discussions between the two personalities.


The participants in this summit have discussed the issue of cooperation between Russia and African countries. According to sources close to the presidency, the head of state could take a word during these meetings.

Arrived Wednesday in Sochi for the first Russia-Africa summit, Felix Tshisekedi had a tête-à-tête with his counterpart Vladimir Putin. The Congolese President expressed his gratitude to the Russian leader for being the first world leader to recognize his electoral victory.

"You were the first world leader to congratulate my accession to power," said Felix Tshisekedi.

In turn, Vladimir Putin, who said he was happy to meet Tshisekedi, expressed his sympathy following the road accident that killed 31 people last Sunday in the city of Mbanza Ngungu (Kongo Central).

"Mr President, dear friends, I am very happy to meet you, but I would first like to express my condolences for the deaths in a road accident in your country and in a plane crash. These are always difficult events, "said the Russian president.

Apart from these amabilities, nothing else has filtered through this exchange between the two personalities who meet face-to-face for the first time.

In Russia, Felix Tshisekedi who leads a large delegation participates in the first summit between Russia and the African continent. The meetings, which was taking place at the seaside resort of Sochi, are co-chaired by Vladimir Putin and Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

During this summit, particular attention will was paid to the state and prospects of relations between Russia and Africa, to the development of exchanges in the political, economic, humanitarian and cultural fields.

As part of the fight against terrorism and cross - border crime, other challenges and threats to regional and global security was discussed after an in - depth exchange to coordinate actions.
