DRC President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo takes part in the Sadc summit which opens today in Gaberone

The President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo arrived this Thursday in the middle of the night to Gaberone, capital of Botswana to participate in the Extraordinary Summit of the Troika of the Economic Community of Southern African States (SADC) scheduled for Friday, November 27.

At Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in Gaberone, the Congolese Head of State was greeted by Botswana Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Dr Lemogang Kwape. 

This extraordinary summit of the SADC Troika will be particularly devoted to questions of terrorism affecting the community, particularly in the DRC and Mozambique. The DRC will be particularly at the center of the exchanges since the question of the intervention brigade of the MONUSCO force (FIB) will be raised in the presence of the countries contributing troops to this brigade, namely Malawi, South Africa. and Tanzania invited to this Summit. Called on to take over from MONUSCO troops, the FIB is the subject of discussions at SADC level. It should be noted that the Troika of the Organ for Political, Defense and Security Cooperation of SADC includes Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe, respectively current Chairman, incoming and outgoing Chairman of the Organ. . The SADC Policy, Defense and Security Cooperation Body is the body with the overall objective of promoting peace and security in the Region in accordance with Article 2 of the SADC Protocol on Cooperation in policy, defense and security. 

This Thursday morning at the PHAKALANE Conference Center, the preparatory meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the Organ was held on the sidelines of the Summit which opens this Friday. 

The DRC was represented by the Minister of Defense Ngoy Mukena and the Deputy Chief of State of the General Staff of the FARDC, General Jean-claude Yav Kabeyi.
