Sweden signs Memorandum of Understanding on the protection of critical undersea infrastructure
Sweden signed on May 16, 2025, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) concerning the protection of critical undersea infrastructure in the Baltic Sea. The MoU was concluded with the Baltic Sea countries within the EU, along with Norway, Iceland and the EU. “This MoU marks an important step in increased regional cooperation on the protection of critical undersea infrastructure in the Baltic Sea. Recent events highlight the importance of coordinated action on issues concerning the protection of critical infrastructure,” says Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard. “The Government is working on a broad front to strengthen security in the Baltic Sea together with our neighbours and Allies.
